He was once tipped to break through at Leeds United but now he has a new club after a surprise summer exit.
Former Leeds United striker Robbie McDaid has today completed a move to York City, having been without a club since leaving Elland Road in the summer, with the news announced on the club’s official website.
The 20-year-old appeared to be highly regarded at Leeds and was a regular for their under-18 and under-23 sides, building up a reputation as an exciting young goal-scorer.
He also spent time on loan at Lincoln City, where he scored four goals in 16 matches, but ultimately it was not enough to convince the Leeds hierarchy to offer him a new contract and he subsequently moved on.
It has taken him until now to find a new club, so it will be a welcome relief that he has agreed a season-long contract at York, where he will be hoping to kick-start his career.

Leeds have so many young players coming through the ranks that some will always be moved on, it was just slightly surprising to see McDaid among them, especially when former manager Neil Redfearn had said back in 2014 that he had all the attributes needed to be a top striker.
