Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has told BBC Radio Leeds that Sheffield Wednesday fans whinge a lot.

Whelan made the comments following Leeds’s 1-1 draw with Wednesday away from home at the Hillsborough Stadium in the Championship on Friday evening.

The former Leeds striker told BBC Radio Leeds after the match about Wednesday fans: “They whinge, don’t they? They do whinge a lot.”

Derby result

The derby on Friday was quite entertaining, and Wednesday and Leeds played out a 1-1 draw at the Hillsborough Stadium.

The Owls took the lead through a wondergoal from Adam Reach on the stroke of half time, but the visiting team restored parity in the opening minutes of the second half when Mateusz Klich scored with a stunning effort.

Pushing for promotion

Both Leeds and Wednesday are massive clubs, and the Whites and the Owls are aiming for promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have made the better start of the two Yorkshire clubs, but Wednesday do have some brilliant footballers and a quality team who will only get better in the coming weeks and months.
