The wingers struggled to have an impact against Derby County in the Championship today.

Leeds United suffered defeat to Derby County in the Championship this afternoon – losing 1-0 after a goal from Johnny Russell in the second-half earned the Rams victory.
Leeds, apart from the goal, generally looked strong at the back but again failed to produce much going forward.
They struggled to create anything for striker Chris Wood throughout the game – with wide-men Alex Mowatt and Hadi Sacko in particular struggling.

Mowatt was playing in place of the injured Stuart Dallas and struggled out wide whilst Sacko should have done better against Derby’s young talent Max Lowe.
One former Leeds United player who felt neither did enough was Steve Hodge. The former England international spent three seasons at Leeds and also a spell on loan at Derby from the Yorkshire club.
He told TV Yorkshire this afternoon after the game:
“No goals for again. Which tells the story really.
“Overall creation wasn’t enough. You wanted to see Sacko up against the young left-back and in the end he won the battle on the day and Sacko was taken off.

“Mowatt is not really a left-winger by trade. He doesn’t really have a trick or pace to go by anyone. He works hard for the team, got good skill. But both those areas today gave Leeds nothing. Because of that fact Chris Wood got nothing in the penalty box.”
It leaves Garry Monk with a big call to make for the game with Wigan Athletic in the week. Dallas is set to remain out but Monk does have the option of bringing in Kemar Roofe or changing the system and bringing in Marcus Antonsson up front.
But a change will need to be made if Leeds are to be more potent going forward.
