Adryan left Leeds two years ago and after an unsuccessful stint in Brazil he wants to return to Europe.
Adryan at Leeds United
It is two years since Adryan’s loan spell at Leeds United came to a predictable end,
The highly rated playmaker had looked like he could really fulfil his potential at Elland Road after winning over fans a couple of months in, before fading rapidly.
He did not keep the trust of coach Neil Redfearn who sent him back to play with the under-21s, and signing him permanently never looked likely.
Leeds United’s Adryan in a rare appearance
Last season he had a productive spell in Ligue 1 with Nantes before returning to Brazil to parent club Flamengo to try and crack their first team.
He has been unable to do so and at the age of 22 he wants to cut ties with the club.
Speaking to Brazilian news outlet O Globo, Adryan’s agent Reinaldo Pitta said that he wants to return to European football and already has offers on the table.
He said: “There are two possibilities, both outside Brazil. Adryan does not want to continue playing in Brazil.”
Adryan playing for Brazil’s under-17 side
Adryan made his name at the under-17 World Cup for Brazil back in 2011 and was hailed as a wonderkid who had the world at his feet.
He broke into Flamengo’s team as a teenager before Massimo Cellino’s former club Cagliari signed him on loan. Soon after he signed for Leeds United.
He made nine league starts for Leeds without scoring a goal, providing two assists.
Last season at Nantes he netted three times in 19 starts, but this season at Flamengo he has made only three appearances, all from the bench.
A fresh start is needed, just don’t expect a return to Elland Road. If Massimo Cellino clinches his rumoured buyout of Brescia, now that could be a possibility.
