It looks like Leeds United left-back Charlie Taylor will be crowned the club’s player of the season.
The 22-year-old has been fantastic for the club this season and the Yorkshire lad has built a reputation as one of the top young players in the Championship.
He fully deserves the credit he is currently getting at the club and one former Leeds United left-back has certainly been impressed.
Ben Parker came through the ranks at Leeds, spending 17 years at the club as a youth-team player and first-team option before leaving the club after a string of injury problems in 2012.
But even before he departed the club he had already heard murmurings of Taylor’s talent.
Parker, who now plays for Guiseley, told BBC Radio Leeds this week:
“Well he’s right good as I am not even there anymore, that’s how good he is.
“No he’s fantastic. Every now and again you hear rumours and murmurings outside of the first-team and Chaz was definitely one and Lewis Cook was the other. They were the main two.
“It’s fantastic to see how well they’ve done and for me Chaz has been different class this year. Head and shoulders above most people at Elland Road.”
Taylor made his debut for Leeds in August 2011, so Parker and his paths certainly did cross during their time together at Leeds – even if the latter was injured the majority of the time.
Taylor has now made the left-back slot his own and hopefully he can avoid the fitness issues that plagued Parker throughout his Leeds career.
