The two youngsters were brilliant against Derby County recently.

Leeds United put in perhaps their most impressive display of the season so far against Derby County on Friday night.

They dominated the game, although only win the game by a margin of 1-0, with Chris Wood scoring the winning goal for Leeds.

But there was one player’s performance which really stood out. Ronaldo Vieira was magnificent in the Leeds midfield as the 18-year-old continues to catch the eye at Elland Road.

One former Leeds player however is hoping that his name is not getting too much attention. Leeds have lost star youngsters in the past; Fabian Delph, Lewis Cook and Sam Byram for example. Ben Parker, a former Leeds United full-back, has been speaking to TV Yorkshire about the player and praising Garry Monk’s handling of young talent:

“Don’t say it too loudly! People might be watching! Unfortunately (the secret is out).

“He had that little spell where Monk’s brought him out of the team. The man management of the young lads has been fantastic.”

It was not just Vieira who caught his eye. Leeds had to call back Lewie Coyle into a Championship start sooner than they would have liked to originally but injuries meant Monk had little choice.

He put in a brilliant performance and Parker was full of praise for the full-back:

“A big mention to Lewie Coyle as well. I thought he did extremely well considering he hasn’t had much game time and had a bit of a nasty injury. He’s come back in and it sums him up.”

Overall Leeds United can be very excited about the future at the club, with plenty of young players coming through and the side sitting in such a lofty position in the Championship table.

If they can just keep hold of them perhaps former glories will return to Elland Road.
