Leeds United are set to appoint Paul Heckingbottom.
Leeds United are closing in on appointing a successor to Thomas Christiansen.
BBC Sport report Paul Heckingbottom will be appointed imminently once personal terms are agreed.
He is expected to take first team training tomorrow morning, The Telegraph report.
Heckingbottom has clearly impressed Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani, and he comes with a seal of approval from their former chief executive officer too.
Ex-Leeds CEO Ben Mansford hired Heckingbottom at Barnsley as a caretaker boss replacing Lee Johnson, and he impressed so much that he was given the gig full time.
After appointing Heckingbottom, Mansford raved about the manager.
He told the League Manager’s Association (LMA): “We’ve enjoyed one of the most unforgettable and remarkable seasons ever here at Barnsley Football Club and it goes without saying that Paul has been instrumental in the success we have achieved.
“He’s one of the brightest and hard-working young coaches in the country and we’re absolutely delighted that he’s agreed to become our permanent head coach.”
These comments have to be encouraging for Leeds fans that they may be onto a winner, who can make an immediate impact like he did at Oakwell.
Heckingbottom got Barnsley promoted into the Championship and ensured their survival last season.
He has since been linked with Sunderland, Norwich City and Nottingham Forest over the past 12 months.
Ben Mansford oversaw the transition between Massimo Cellino and Andrea Radrizzani at Leeds United and took up a new post in Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
