Huddersfield pulled clear of Leeds with a win over Reading.
Philip Billing scores the first goal for Huddersfield Town
Championship play-off hopefuls Huddersfield Town and Reading were in action last night, with the Terriers winning 1-0.
A late goal from Philip Billing gave David Wagner’s side all three points, and put them clear of the chasing pack in third place and keeps the pressure on Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion.
Former Leeds United defender Andy Couzens reacted with disappointment to Huddersfield’s winner, having been hoping for a draw.
With Leeds trailing both Huddersfield and Reading in the table, the best result for the Whites would have been a draw.
There was one piece of good news for Leeds, with rivals Sheffield Wednesday suffering a home defeat to Brentford.
The Owls face Leeds this weekend and could have gone into the game at Elland Road with a three point advantage and knocked Leeds down to sixth.
As it stands Leeds remain in fifth place on goal difference, and have a chance to pile it on Wednesday this weekend if they can record a second successive win over their opponents.
