Leeds United are searching for their next manager with Garry Monk resigning on Thursday.
Garry Monk’s departure was confirmed on Thursday
Former Leeds boss Steve Evans has told Sky Sports that it is the Whites supporters who he feels sorry for following Garry Monk’s departure from Elland Road.
Monk enjoyed an excellent first year with the Yorkshire outfit, so nearly guiding them into the play-offs with only a dramatic decline in form seeing them slide out of the top six in the final weeks of the campaign.

The performance in the league may have left the fans dreaming about what may be possible with Monk set to enjoy a full summer to potentially make further changes.
However, that was not to be as Monk stunned the Championship side by resigning just days after Andrea Radrizzani completed his full takeover of the club.

And Evans – who was in charge before Monk’s arrival – has expressed his sympathy for the fans as another summer of potential upheaval looms.
“It has to be said he’s done nothing short of a magnificent job,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’m one of the few coaches who can sit there quietly and understand how difficult it would have been for Garry behind the scenes.
“He’s gone about his business with Pep (Clotet) and James (Beattie) and in a professional fashion and I feel sorry for the Leeds United supporters.

“Once more they are back to something else. It’s an opportunity for something new but they’ll quite rightly be disappointed.”
Given how unpredictable the Championship can be, it is almost impossible to know how much Monk’s departure has either hurt or actually boosted the side’s chances of success.
But given how promising the former Swansea boss’ season was with Leeds, it is certainly fair to say that his successor has a hard act to follow at Elland Road.
