Former Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn has told Radio Yorkshire he believes Brighton and Hove Albion could crack once again if the Whites can beat them this weekend.

Brighton are joint top of the table with Newcastle, but having occupied a top two place until late on last season, they know all too well not to take anything for granted.

The Seagulls have won their last two games, but lost their two before that, and face tricky task visiting fourth placed Leeds this weekend.

Redfearn is hopeful that Leeds can win this weekend and ask further questions of Chris Hughton’s side.

Whether Leeds are the ones who would be able to take advantage and seize an automatic promotion place is however something he is not too sure of.

He said: “I don’t think a point would be a disaster but what Leeds can really do, if we can go an get all three points it really puts the pressure on Brighton.

“We’ve seen from last season what pressure did to Brighton. They came undone right at the death.

“If Leeds can just put that big a pressure on at the top, yes Huddersfield are in front of them, but they can pull points back. They’ve got to go and be positive.”

Brighton beat Leeds 2-0 earlier in the season at the Amex, following a 4-0 demolition at the same stadium in the second half of 2015/16.

Leeds have more than a point to prove, and a good home record at Elland Road this season to believe they can get a result.

The problem is that after recording two draws in a row previous to this, they have lost momentum and are poorly placed to win an automatic promotion spot, currently 11 points behind Brighton, but with Fulham gaining on the play-off places, avoiding defeat is essential.
