Ex-Leeds ace Tony Dorigo couldn’t believe Steve Evans’ post-match comments against Watford.
Leeds United lost 1-0 to Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon – and former Whites left back Tony Dorigo was stunned by manager Steve Evans’ post-match comments.
Watford won the game thanks to a second half own goal from Scott Wootton, and had a second goal from Etienne Capoue ruled out shortly after.
The result and the performance once again highlighted Leeds’ lack of attacking firepower, with fans calling for reinforcements to be added in the loan window.
Despite a mostly toothless display at Vicarage Road, Evans then come out after the game to suggest that he felt Leeds were the better side against the Premier League team.
The comments sparked a stunned response from bewildered Leeds fans, and one former player echoed those thoughts of complete shock at Evans’ view.
Tony Dorigo, who played over 200 times for Leeds as a left back during their Premier League days, is now working as a pundit, and took to Twitter to admit that he covered the game for TV.
The Australian then joked that he was sure that Evans was stood on the touch line managing the Leeds side, but judging by the Scot’s comments, believed it must have been somebody else, as there was no way Leeds were the better team at Vicarage Road.
