Reports claim that Palace are speaking to the former Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers player to become their new manager.

Following the surprise retirement of Sam Allardyce, it seems that Crystal Palace have taken their managerial search beyond the UK, and are now speaking to former Inter Milan boss Frank de Boer, as reported by Sky Sports.
If Palace can pull this off and announce the former Barcelona and Ajax player as manager, they would have done amazingly well in the current climate and secured a manager who’s won four league titles at the age of 47.

While things may not have worked out as well as hoped at Inter Milan for de Boer, it’s worth noting that the Italian giants were in a period of transition following new ownership, and ultimately de Boer only got 14 games as manager – which is hardly ample time to judge his credentials.
In fact, things were so suspect at Inter that de Boer later attacked the new owners, as reported by beIN Sports, claiming that a complete lack of leadership and over the top expectations hampered his time there, which lasted a mere 85 days.

At Ajax however, de Boer wowed everyone when he became the first manager in Eredivisie history to win four straight league titles, and while no-one will expect him to do that with Palace, the fact they could be hiring someone with that CV is remarkable for a club who were only mathematically safe from relegation after game 37 of 38.
What may be an issue for Palace is that de Boer may well use the Eagles as a stepping stone, which is against owner Steve Parish’s wishes, as reported by BBC Sport, but it’s definitely a risk worth taking for the club.
