The 26-year-old was a target of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers last year.

The Daily Mail reported back in April 2016 that then-Barnsley star Conor Hourihane was being lined up by Rangers.
The report claimed that Rangers – who had just won promotion back to the Scottish Premiership – wanted to bring the Irishman North of the border when Mark Warburton was in charge of the Ibrox club.
Hourihane’s Celtic allegiances were out there at the time due to previous tweets about the Hoops, but recent comments from the Aston Villa midfielder suggest that such a move was never going to materialise.

The 26-year-old took part in a Unibet video where he was hooked up to an electric shock lie detector and, when asked if there was a team that he secretly hated, Hourihane answered: “Yes……Rangers.”
The device – which may or may not be as reliable as a real lie detector – indicated that he was indeed telling the truth nevertheless.

If this season is anything to go by then he would’ve been a cracking signing for the Gers.
Hourihane has been one of the best players in the Championship this season and has five goals in 10 league appearances for the West Midlands club.
