Andy Gray has suggested on The Keys & Gray Show that Rangers and Celtic should play in the Premier League.
The former Rangers striker has suggested that the Premier League should invite both Rangers and Celtic to play in their division.
Gray made the comments while referring to the financial problems that clubs in Scotland and Scottish football as a whole are facing due to the global health crisis, which has caused economic uncertainty in the game.
The beIN SPORTS pundit has added that Rangers and Celtic would make the Premier League even better.
Gray said on The Keys & Gray Show, as transcribed by The Scottish Sun: “Rangers and Celtic have to play competitive football and if they are not getting competitive football, or enough people, or enough competition in Scotland they’re going to have to look for somewhere else.
“And where is the best place for Rangers and Celtic to go play? In my opinion, it’s always been the one thing the Premier League can add to something that has been so successful, to maybe make it even better for me, would be two very strong Rangers and Celtic sides.”
Unlikely
It is very, very unlikely that the Premier League will invite Rangers and Celtic to join them anytime soon.
Not only would the rules need to be changed if Rangers and Celtic are to play in the top flight of English football, but there would also be opposition from English clubs.
Rangers and Celtic would likely to have to start in the lower leagues in England, which they might not be willing to do, as it would cost them money, as they would not be playing in the Champions League or the Europa League for quite a few years.
