As reported by the Daily Record, former Rangers striker Nacho Novo has returned to the club this week in order to take in training sessions alongside manager Pedro Caixinha.
The Gers went into the international break with a superb 4-1 win at Hamilton Academical, as Caixinha got back on track following the disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic.
A number of Rangers players have since been away on international duty, but will now return ahead of the weekend meeting with St Johnstone, whilst those left in Glasgow took part in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
Caixinha’s men played out a 3-3 draw with Morton, and will be hoping to pick up a league win to immediately get their league campaign back up and running on a good note.
Ahead of that game, Rangers have been joined in training by a familiar face, as Spaniard Nacho Novo has returned to the club to take in training alongside manager Caixinha.
It’s unclear just what Novo’s role is, but he was not only pictured at Auchenhowie by the Daily Record earlier today, but it’s also believed that he has been around Rangers training sessions throughout the week.
Novo may simply be looking to aid his own coaching ambitions by watching how Caixinha works, but some fans may hope that the former fan favourite lands a job on Caixinha’s coaching staff.
The Spaniard, now 38, joined Rangers from Dundee back in 2004, and went on to score 73 goals in 255 games for the Gers, becoming a popular figure at Ibrox – and a potential return would go down well with fans.
