Bob Malcolm believes Rangers should be in the market for Linfield’s Paul Smyth.
Bob Malcolm, formerly of Rangers, has taken to Twitter to ask just why the Gers aren’t pursuing a deal for Linfield winger Paul Smyth amid strong interest from clubs in England.
The Gers have been busy in the transfer market this summer, as nine new signings have been snapped up by Pedro Caixinha, with Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Ryan Jack, Carlos Pena, Graham Dorrans, Dalcio, Daniel Candeias, Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos all arriving at Ibrox.

So far this season, Rangers have been patchy and unconvincing, leading many to believe that Caixinha should dip back in to the market before the transfer deadline, especially to sign another winger.
The club’s pursuit of Hearts winger Jamie Walker hasn’t progress in the last two months, and it may be time for Rangers to consider other options if they can’t strike a deal for Walker.
Now, former Rangers midfielder Bob Malcolm has taken to Twitter to suggest that the Gers should be in the market for Linfield wide man Paul Smyth, amid strong interest from clubs in England.
Smyth, 19, has emerged as one of Northern Irish football’s top talents having hit eight goals in 15 appearances last season, and he also caught the eye against Celtic with his performances for Linfield in their Champions League qualifiers earlier this summer.

Sky Sports reported over the weekend that QPR have made a new bid for Smyth in an attempt to secure his signature before the deadline, but Malcolm is now urging Rangers to make a move to land him, and add another Northern Irish talent to the Rangers ranks.
Northern Irish players such as Kyle Lafferty, Steven Davis, Andy Little, Dean Shiels and Lee Hodson have all turned out for Rangers in recent memory, whilst ex-Rangers striker David Healy is the current Linfield boss, and Rangers should still be looking to the Northern Irish market for talent having focused on Portugal and Mexico this summer.
