A Leicester City move for the Reading captain Liam Moore would have the backing of the former Foxes winger Matt Piper, it seems.
According to Teamtalk, Leicester are one of several Premier League clubs being credited with an interest in Moore -along with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Southampton.
And the website claims that Brendan Rodgers’ side are considering a shock approach for the 27-year-old, who came through the City youth system.
Piper took an identical route to the Leicester first team and should know Moore well as a regular watcher of his hometown team.
And, asked about a potential return for Moore to the King Power Stadium, Piper told a fan:
Moore, who is reported to have cost Reading around £1 million in 2016, is under contract with the Royals for another two seasons after this one.
And that, combined with Reading’s bright start to the new campaign and Leicester’s strength in depth in his position – where Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu, Wesley Fofana and Wes Morgan are all competing for places – could convince the former England Under-21 international not to leave if an offer comes in.
