Liverpool were beaten by Manchester City last night, and ex-Everton man Steven Pienaar was seemingly delighted.

Former Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar has taken aim at Liverpool on social media website Twitter, after their defeat last night.

Pienaar still works for Everton as a club ambassador and he could resist taking a dig at Liverpool yesterday.

The former Toffees man claimed that Liverpool have been celebrating the fact that they are sat at the top of the Premier League far too much, with the title fight still on.

Liverpool were pegged back in the battle for the title last night, with City beating them 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s side have now closed the gap on the Reds to four points and they have taken their unbeaten record.

Everton could yet have a say in where the Premier League trophy ends up in May as they take on Liverpool and City in 2019 within a few days of each other.

Everton are scheduled to play City on 23rd February, while they face Liverpool on 3rd March in what could be a fiercely contested Merseyside derby.
