Speaking on The FPL Show, former Premier League striker Glenn Murray has been speaking about his former manager Eddie Howe after he was appointed as Newcastle’s new manager.

Murray played under Howe at Bournemouth back in the day, so he knows more than most about what the former Cherries boss will bring to St James’ Park.

Murray reckons Joe Willock and Isaac Hayden could be amongst the players who improve under the new manager.

What’s been said?

Murray was speaking about the impact Howe could have on Tyneside.

“I expect him to improve Willock and Hayden. He’s very much a coach, he progresses players and I expect those two to benefit off the back of Eddie getting the job.”

“The potential is there isn’t it, he’s been anonymous so far this season. So Eddie has a lot of work on to get him scoring, but we saw last season when he was on loan that he was delivering week in, week out,” One of the co-hosts concluded on Willock.

Need to improve

Whether or not Howe can improve Willock and Hayden remains to be seen, but the fact of the matter is that they need to improve.

These players’ positions are at stake. Newcastle are now the richest club in the world and they won’t hang onto any players who aren’t up to scratch.

Willock has proven in the past that he’s capable of being brilliant, but whether or not he can rediscover his best form is another question entirely.
