Juventus are now reportedly hopeful that Tottenham will make a move in January to sign midfielder Weston McKennie, with Antonio Conte’s former side eager to recoup some funds in the upcoming window.

According to TuttoSport via CalcioMercato, the Serie A giants are in dire financial problems and are open to selling a big-name player in January, with McKennie viewed by many at the club as an asset who could be sold for a big fee to an interested club, such as Tottenham, with Conte a fan of the American midfielder.

As per the report, Juventus would be open to selling McKennie for as little as €30m (£26m), a fee that would interest Tottenham given their need to sign a midfielder in January, with a lack of spark in the position something that fans have been critical of this season.

Tottenham have impressed in the Premier League this campaign, yet their conservative approach has been met with criticism by pundits and supporters, with fans booing Spurs this weekend after a 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United, their third defeat of the season.

With McKennie seemingly on the market, Tottenham signing the former Schalke 04 ‘powerhouse’, as stated by CalcioMercato, could be a great new addition to the midfield, with the American known for his versatility in being able to score and create chances from deep.

Indeed, the Texan-born star already has two goals and an assist in all competitions this season, and under Conte, McKennie could easily take his game to the next level if Tottenham are willing to bow down to Juventus’ demands in January to sign the midfielder.

£26m McKennie signing would be quite the steal for Tottenham

McKennie’s time in Turin has been quite productive despite Juventus’ openness to sell the midfielder in January, and for Tottenham, a £26m deal could be a coup of a transfer for Tottenham given what the 24-year-old offers the north London side in a problem position.

The midfielder has proven with Juventus to be a surprise source for goals and chances, and McKennie’s physical attributes make the American international ideal for the Premier League and for Conte’s style of play, which could be a match made in heaven.
