Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel believes he was more appreciated during his time in the Premier League than he is at Bayern Munich.

Tuchel had guided the Blues to their second UEFA Champions League title in 2021 despite taking charge of the team midway through the season.

The 50-year-old was highly regarded for his modern tactical ideas but his spell did not last for long after a drastic change in the club’s ownership.

With Todd Boehly taking over Chelsea, the American businessman sacked Tuchel following the team’s 1-0 European defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in September of 2022.

A few months later, Tuchel returned to the Bundesliga again but this time to manage record Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and save their domestic campaign helping them claim the title on the final matchday.

Despite his success, the former Dortmund coach is still criticised by the German media over his playing style and selection of players as they currently trail rivals Bayer Leverkusen in the new campaign.

“I feel that we are very critical of each other in Germany, especially with players and coaches, not only with me,” Tuchel told ESPN FC.

“It’s very hard to escape a certain pigeonhole once you’re in it. There’s a picture and it has been the same for years and years.

“I felt more appreciation in England yes, which is just a fact,” he added.
