Islam Feruz famously turned down a contract at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic to sign for Premier League powerhouses Chelsea back in 2011.

It is now eight years since Islam Feruz left Celtic for Chelsea in a move that has gone down in legend for all the wrong reasons.
Feruz was just 15 years of age when he rejected a contract with the Glasgow giants to follow the bright lights of London town, arriving at Stamford Bridge as supposedly a future superstar of British football, as reported by The Scotsman.
And there is a reason why Feruz so frequently comes up in conversation whenever a fresh-faced teenage talent is linked with one of the giants of the game. Because the former Scotland U21 international is an example of when things so badly wrong.
Feruz has never come close to a first-team game for Chelsea and has endured a range of very random loan spells. At the age of just 23, he has played for five different clubs, including OFI Crete, Blackpool and Royal Excel Mouscron.

And, according to La Meuse, Feruz has now been offered a contract by FC Seraing. If you haven’t heard of them, that’s probably because they are an amateur club in the third tier of Belgian football.
You have to wonder how different things could have been if Feruz had decided that he was better off in the green and white of Celtic.
