Chelsea could finally see Charly Musonda fulfil his talent
Charly Musonda has endured a frustrating time at Chelsea, but his injury nightmare appears to have come to an end.
Celtic pulled off a coup when they sealed a loan deal for the attacking midfielder in January 2018, but Musonda was limited to just eight appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side before returning to his parent club.
His loan period was cut short after just four months, and the Belgian under-21 internationalist went on to join Dutch side Vitesse in another loan move.
Major injury problems would derail his career, however, with the 24-year-old having played just four competitive games during his time in the Netherlands.
Things could be about to get much better for Musonda, with Goal reporting that he’s set to join up with Chelsea’s under-23s in the next two weeks.
After missing out on 15 months of football, he has now set his sights on working towards a spot in Frank Lampard’s first team squad.
Posting on Instagram in November, Musonda said: “Stay on the move, and keep pushing relentlessly.
“I keep training and believing despite the odds, that one day I will be back.”
Musonda made his Celtic debut in a 3-1 win against Hearts, and will now be aiming to recapture the form that had Rodgers calling him a “big talent” with “wonderful ability” on Celtic TV.
