Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers are reportedly set to sign Emerson Hyndman from Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

Fulham Under-23 coach Peter Grant has jokingly suggested to The Daily Record that Emerson Hyndman is more of a Celtic player than a Rangers man.

According to The Daily Record, Hyndman will join Rangers in the January transfer window.

The midfielder will move to the Gers on loan from Premier League club Bournemouth until the end of the season, according to the report.

Grant worked with the 20-year-old when the youngster was at Fulham, and he has spoken highly of him.

The ex-Norwich City manager has also jokingly stated that Hyndman is more suited to his former club Celtic than to Old Firm rivals Rangers.

“I would have seen Emerson as more of a Celtic player than Rangers!” former Scotland international midfielder Grant jokingly told The Daily Record.

“Celtic were being heavily linked with a move for him last season. He’s a Celtic -type player, even under Brendan Rodgers, as he’s a passer.”

“Emerson’s a good player,” added Grant. “Technically very good, he can keep the ball and is comfortable in possession.

“He will not let anybody down as he just needs guidance. The better players he plays alongside then the better he will become.”

Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 39 points from 21 matches.

Mark Warburton’s side are 19 points behind Old Firm rivals and leaders Celtic, who have a game in hand.

The Gers are unlikely to catch Celtic at the to of the table, but the Ibrox outfit can certainly finish second.

Rangers will return to action on January 21 when they take on Motherwell at Ibrox in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
