Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are struggling to keep up with Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers are way behind Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment. The Gers are as many as 30 points behind Brendan Rodgers’s side in third place.

The Ibrox outfit won automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2015-16 campaign. This season the Glasgow giants were expected to at least finish second in the Scottish Premiership, but things are not going so well.

Mark Warburton parted company with Rangers as the manager earlier this month, with the Glasgow giants yet to find a permanent successor to the Englishman.

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, who is now in charge of Scottish Championship outfit Hibernian, believes that it could take a number of years for Rangers to challenge the Bhoys.

“I agree with Martin to an extent, [Celtic] really need a stiffer challenge from Rangers but that’s maybe two, three, four years down the line,” Lennon told The Scottish Sun while referring to Martin O’Neill’s recent comments about Rangers.

Celtic have the best squad in the Scottish Premiership and should win the league title this season with a number of games to spare.

The Hoops will be favourites to win the championship title next season as well, but Rangers should be aiming to at least close the gap and give their Old Firm rivals a run for their money.
