Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will face Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon.
David Hay has suggested in The Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers should not start Moussa Dembele against Motherwell this afternoon.
Celtic will take on Motherwell away from home at the Fir Park Stadium in the Scottish Premiership in a few hours’ time.
Dembele is likely to start the match, as the young forward has been arguably the Bhoys’ best player so far this season.
The 20-year-old former Fulham forward has been scoring goals for fun this season following his move to Celtic in the summer transfer window.
Former Celtic midfielder and manager Hay has suggested that Rodgers should not include the France Under-21 international in his starting lineup against Motherwell.
“The lad has been a revelation at Celtic as his 17 goals so far this term have shown – but I actually think that he could do with a breather,” Hay wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times.
“I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Leigh Griffiths start the game at Fir Park this afternoon with Dembele taking a place on the bench.
“The striker is still only 20 and when you consider the sheer amount of games he has played already this season, it is inevitable that his form will dip a little bit.”
Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 34 points from 12 matches.
The Glasgow giants are eight points clear of second-placed Heart of Midlothian with three games in hand.
Motherwell are currently sixth in the standings with 15 points from 14 games. Celtic will head into this afternoon’s match against Mark McGhee’s side as favourites.
