Stefan Johansen has not been playing well for Celtic this season.
David Hay has written in The Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen needs to step up his game.
Johansen, who has been on the books of Celtic since 2014, is one of better players in the current Bhoys’ squad.
However, the Norway international midfielder has not been playing well this season and is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup.
The 25-year-old was left out of the Celtic squad against the Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee at Celtic Park on Wednesday evening.
Former Celtic midfielder and manager Hay believes that it is high time that Johansen raises his game.
“We know he is capable of it because last season he was the Player of the Year,” Hay wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times. “This season he has fallen well short of the standard that he has set for himself and it is only Stefan Johansen who can fix that.”
“This is the time to show your commitment to the team and you can do that by displaying hunger and desire when you are on the park,” added the former Scotland international.
“You have to be prepared to give everything for the cause and not shirk from putting in a shift when the chips are down.”
Celtic have the strongest squad in the Scottish Premiership, but they are not doing too well at the moment.
Ronny Deila’s side are just four points clear at the top of the league table at the moment.
Second-placed Aberdeen are hot on the heels of the Glasgow giants, who are in danger of losing the Scottish Premiership title this season.
