Juande Ramos has given his thoughts about the Champions League final between Liverpool and his former side Tottenham.

Head Coach of Malaga CF Juande Ramos looks on during La Liga match between Malaga CF and Granada CF at La Rosaleda Stadium December 9, 2016 in Malaga, Spain.

Former Tottenham boss Juande Ramos has told Mundo Deportivo that the Champions League final help the club keep their best players, as well as Mauricio Pochettino.

After two incredible comebacks from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur against Barcelona and Ajax respectively in the second legs of the semi-finals of the Champions League, the duo will face off in an all English final.

Liverpool are certain to walk into Madrid as the favourites for the European crown but Ramos feels that the tie will be 50-50.

He said: “I think the final is at 50 percent, I would like Tottenham to win, but Liverpool will be a very tough and very strong opponent and they also know each other from the Premier League. It will be a beautiful final and I hope Tottenham will be the winner.”

Ramos was quick to emphasise the value of a victory for Spurs at the Wanda Metropolitano next month, claiming it will be a massive boost to keep hold of their star players and manager.

The Spaniard continued: “There is not only one reason to see Tottenham in the final. The continuity of Pochettino is clearly important, as is not selling his great players. The team is very solid and in the last two qualifying rounds he had the bit of luck you need to access the final and I think he deserves it.”

Pochettino has already fuelled speculation regarding his future when The Guardian reported the Argentine claiming he may leave Spurs if they win the Champions League this season. Pochettino has also been linked with a move to Italian Champions Juventus after his cousin was quoted by Goal saying that he might be tempted to leave Spurs for Turin.

Pochettino could be the first manager to win a trophy for Spurs since Juande Ramos and the Spaniard has shown his full support and has also urged him to carry on his tremendous job at North London.
