Nottingham Forest have set out their ambition for next season with a £13 million move for Benfica ace Joao Carvalho.
There will be big pressure on Carvalho to show he will be worth the investment, but his Portuguese compatriot Ruben Neves answered similar questions emphatically last season.
He is a player who was hailed by his former boss Rui Vitoria, who praised his efforts for Benfica last season.
Comments from Vitoria about Carvalho’s ability will excite Forest fans about the what the player can bring to the City Ground next season.
Speaking to Benfica’s official website, Vitoria said: “He has the ability to see what other players do not. He is another quality young man.”
Only a big fee from Forest convinced Benfica to sell the versatile star, who plays in midfield.
His opportunities were limted at Benfica last season due to the competition for places and a switch to Forest is good for his development.
Now he just needs to make good on his potential and show he can live up to the hype.
