Aston Villa were said to be close to signing Isaac Hayden from Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

Former Aston Villa target Isaac Hayden’s value is now at £20 million, according to the Telegraph.

Villa nearly signed Isaac Hayden in the January transfer window, but could not get a deal over the line.

Dean Smith’s side wanted to bring Hayden to Villa Park, as reported by the Birmingham Mail, but they could not reach agreeable terms with Newcastle United.

Since then Hayden has been in brilliant form at St. James’ Park.

The English midfielder has been one of Newcastle’s most important players in recent months, which has seen his value soar.

Hayden is still set to move on this summer, but whether Villa will stand any chance of getting him now seems unlikely.

Villa would almost certainly have to be promoted to afford the fee required to sign Hayden, with Newcastle now wanting big money for the midfielder.

The claret and blues’ own form has been brilliant since January, but Hayden could have offered them even more competition in midfield had he signed up.
