Bolton Wanderers gave their survival hopes another boost yesterday, as they defeated Bristol City at the Macron Stadium. A goal from Sammy Ameobi in the second-half proved enough for Bolton and left Bristol struggling in their own fight for promotion.
It was a result which went down well with Aston Villa fans. The Villans are in an incredible run of form winning five Championship games on the bounce, including a 5-0 trouncing of Bristol City.

Such form has seen them move up the table into third, just behind Derby County in the race for Premier League promotion. They along with Bristol, who would have leapfrogged them with a win last night, and Cardiff City look the most likely contenders to join Wolves in the automatic promotion places.
One Aston Villa fan clearly pleased with the result last night was former player Lee Hendrie. The 40-year-old spent 14 years at Villa Park and is still clearly very fond of his old employers, for whom he was a boyhood fan.
He took to Twitter to send this message:
Hendrie, like all Villa fans, is starting to get excited about the potential for a return to the Premier League after a two-year absence this summer.
If Brentford and Leeds can do them a favour against Derby and Cardiff this afternoon, that dream will start to look much more like a possibility.
