There is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding Villa Park with every manager under the sun being linked the vacant position at the club.
There have been former Premier League managers, foreign managers and even people currently at the helm in the Championship that have all had their name mentioned in the same breath as the Midlands side. As reported by Birmingham Mail, ex-Villa defender Liam Ridgewell has weighed in on the situation regarding one option in particular.
When speaking with talkSPORT, the name that was brought into the conversation was current Brentford boss Dean Smith.
“My best mate at Brentford is Sam Saunders, he speaks very highly of Dean Smith.” said Ridgewell.

“It might be a chance for someone to come in and get a taste of a big club in the Championship.
“The worry is whether he could do it with a big club.”
The option of a younger manager with a tad less experience is an interesting one, however given that Smith has been building a solid side at Brentford it begs the question of whether he would want the job.
A big positive for fans hoping to land Smith is that Villa is his boyhood club, in addition to the fact he has experience managing in the Midlands with Walsall.
