John Gregory has praised Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce.
Former Aston Villa boss John Gregory has taken to Twitter to praise manager Steve Bruce – but has criticised a host of ex-Villa staff in the process.
Villa’s fine start to life under new manager Bruce continued on Saturday afternoon, as they came from a goal down to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 thanks to two more goals from in-form attacker Jonathan Kodjia.

That win means that Bruce has yet to be beaten as Villa boss, claiming three wins and two draws in his five games at the helm, dropping just four points so far.
Villa’s superb form means that they now lie just five points off a play-off place in a tightly-contested Championship table, and they appear to be on the road to recovery after a dismal start to the season under Roberto Di Matteo.

Villa enter the international break on a real high, and will be looking towards January for reinforcements as they push for a play-off place – and one former Villa manager has hailed newcomer Bruce.
John Gregory not only featured for Villa as a midfielder during his playing days, but later returned as their manager for almost four years, winning 82 of his 190 games in charge at Villa Park.

Now out of work having left Crawley Town in 2014 for health reasons, Gregory has taken to Twitter to hail Bruce for his early work with Villa.
Gregory suggested that Bruce has done more for Villa in five games than the likes of Randy Lerner, Tom Fox and Paul Faulkner did in years, before signing off the tweet with ‘Up The Villa’.
