While Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal failed to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the Premier League top four on Sunday, a striker they sold in 2018 won the Serie A title with AC Milan – Olivier Giroud.

Giroud left Arsenal for Premier League and London rivals Chelsea in January 2018.

As reported by BBC Sport at the time, Chelsea paid Arsenal £18 million for the France international striker.

During his time at the Gunners, Giroud scored 105 goals in 253 games.

At Chelsea, the Frenchman won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League and the FA Cup once each.

Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud wins Serie A with AC Milan

And now the former Arsenal striker has won the Serie A title with Milan.

Milan beat Sassuolo 3-0 away from home to clinch the Scudetto.

It is their first league title in 11 years.

Giroud scored twice.

The 35-year-old ended the Serie A season with 11 goals and three assists in 22 league starts.

Milan have ended the Serie A campaign with 86 points from 38 matches, two points ahead of second-placed, bitter city rivals and last season’s champions Inter Milan.

While Giroud will now play in the Champions League with Milan next season, Arsenal will head into the Europa League.
