Arsenal face an important week ahead of them with a match against Ludogorets before their game against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal striker Niall Quinn has admitted that he may have written Arsenal off too early after their stuttering start to the campaign, when writing his column for Sky Sports.

The Gunners picked up just a single point from their opening two Premier League fixtures against Liverpool and Leicester City respectively, but have bounced back superbly with 11 wins and three draws in all competitions.

Arsene Wenger’s men currently sit second in the table, behind Manchester City due to an inferior goal difference, and when writing his column for Sky Sports, Quinn explained how he now has to hold his hands up, admitting that the Gunners look like the real deal this term:

“When Arsenal conceded four home goals to Liverpool on the opening day of the season I tut-tutted loudly in capital letters. On Saturday at Sunderland, I began my penance. I may yet be impeached for doubting Arsene, but my defence will be that everybody was at it. Watching Arsenal against Sunderland on Saturday, I think it was possible to see a difference between this year’s team and those Fancy Dans who have settled for an acceptable level of failure for so many seasons in the past.”

It is, of course, far too early in the season to judge whether or not Arsenal really and truly can be judged as genuine contenders both domestically and on the continent.

One thing is for sure though, Saturday’s win over Sunderland was a game they may have drawn, or even lost, over previous seasons.

The sterner tests are still to come for Wenger’s men. A home game against Spurs is followed by a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United after the international break.

They face Manchester City at the Etihad just before Christmas, and maybe then will be the right time to judge Arsenal.
