Pape Matar Sarr has dropped a hint regarding a return to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 19-year-old midfielder spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Metz, after joining Spurs from the Ligue 1 outfit last summer.
With Tottenham having signed Yves Bissouma this summer, a similar player to Sarr, it was suggested by HITC Sport that the teenage midfielder could struggle for regular football next term.
With that in mind, another loan away from North London wouldn’t have been a shock for the 2022-23 season – and another stint with the French side wouldn’t have been overly surprising.
However, Sarr is looking set to return to Tottenham.
On Twitter, the player sent a message to Metz thanking them and their staff for his development in what looks like a farewell message.
There’s a lot of Tottenham supporters who have more than likely forgotten about Sarr, simply because when you aren’t constantly around, you tend to become a forgotten man.
However, this is clearly a fascinating talent and with Antonio Conte’s history of improving footballers, it’ll be interesting to see what the Italian makes him of throughout pre-season.
Nineteen is young, but it isn’t that young and if he’s good enough, Conte will certainly trust him.
