Leeds United gave Pawel Cibicki a rare start in midweek, but fans are left scratching their heads.

Sweden's forward Pawel Cibicki vies for the ball during the UEFA U-21 European Championship Group A football match Poland v Sweden in Lublin, Poland on June 19, 2017.

Leeds United summer signing Pawel Cibicki made just the second start of his Leeds United career in midweek, featuring in the League Cup.

He was on the losing side as Leeds lost to Premier League side Leicester, with the Whites putting in a good account of themselves despite the 3-1 scoreline in defeat.

The mystery surrounding Cibicki however continues.

The Sweden under-21 international signed in the summer as a low cost buy with part of the Chris Wood money, but is yet to make an impact.

He had a real opportunity at the King Power Stadium to make an impact, but was lost in the shuffle, failing to get fans enthused about his prospects at the club.

Cibicki signed for Leeds as a highly touted talent, having been linked with a Premier League move months earlier, his five goals in 18 appearances helped set Malmo on their way to the Swedish title.

Cibicki can play as a winger or up front, but is yet to make a case at Leeds for any of the first team spots.

He was substituted after 65 minutes in midweek, with very little to be learned from his display, other than that he did not make a case to be involved in this Friday’s big Championship clash with Sheffield United.

Leeds have no reason to rush him, but there is concern he could go the same way as fellow Swede Marcus Antonsson, who arrived at the club as a prolific scorer in Sweden, and is now out on loan in League One.
