Arsenal’s Chris Willock has been linked with a move to Celtic.
Arsenal’s Joel Campbell in action with Hull City’s Josh Tymon
Last week, The Mirror reported that Celtic are keen on Arsenal winger Chris Willock – but they should be considering a move for Joel Campbell.
The Bhoys did great work in the transfer market last summer by landing the likes of Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele, and must do the same again in order to enjoy a Champions League run next term.
One area that manager Brendan Rodgers may have to strengthen is out wide, as winger Patrick Roberts will return to Manchester City at the end of the season once his 18-month loan deal comes to an end.
The Mirror claimed that Celtic were subsequently looking for another winger to replace Roberts, and had eyed up Arsenal wide man Chris Willock in a possible loan deal.
However, with just two first-team appearances to his name, asking Willock to step into Rodgers’ side may be too much, too soon – but there is another Arsenal winger that Celtic should consider.
Joel Campbell joined the club from Saprissa in 2011 and has scored four goals in 40 games for the Gunners, having spent the majority of his time out on loan with Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiakos, Villarreal and Sporting Lisbon.
Almost 25, Campbell needs to settle down and play regular first-team football, as the player that impressed so much for Costa Rica at the 2014 World Cup is in danger of wasting his talent.

Celtic’s attack is founded on the pace of Sinclair and Dembele, and Campbell could add to that with great speed, as well as technique to cut in from the right onto his left foot – just as Roberts has in his loan spell.
Campbell has also played alongside Celtic’s Cristian Gamboa on the international stage, and a possible partnership down the right hand side could be beneficial for Rodgers and the Bhoys.
Having struggled to break into the Sporting Lisbon side this season, Campbell is expected to return to Arsenal and move on again, and he is closer to what Celtic will be looking for once Roberts departs than alleged target Willock.
