Tottenham Hotspur legend Steffen Freund has delivered an emphatic verdict on the club’s new stadium.
Tottenham fans at Wembley
Spurs will play their home games at Wembley Stadium next season, while White Hart Lane undergoes redevelopment to turn it into a 61,000 seater arena.
The £750m venue is hugely impressive and the club released a video recently as reported by The Mirror showing what the ground will look like when it is finished.
There are legitimate short term concerns that Mauricio Pochettino’s team might struggle at Wembley after their failure to settle there this season.
But some have also been worried about a similar scenario at the new ground, with the likes of Arsenal and West Ham famously struggling after moves to bigger stadiums.
Some of the features mean Spurs’ new home will be very unique, boasting a 17,000-seat single-tier home end in a bid to recreate Borussia Dortmund’s famous ‘Yellow Wall’.
And now Steffen Freund, a man who knows what it’s like to play for both clubs, has told BT Sport Spurs will soon have the best stadium in world football.
The Yellow Wall will be replicated at Spurs’ new stadium
“I think it’s an exciting time at Tottenham now, the new stadium is being built so everyone is looking forward to that,” Freund told BT Sport.
“It may even be better than Wembley because it’ll be tighter and with 61,000 supporters really close to the pitch it could be the best stadium in the world.”

Tottenham move into their new stadium in the 2018-19 season and it will boast things like a cheese room, tunnel club, microbrewery, in-house bakery, sky lounge, retractable pitch to switch surfaces for NFL use, heated seats packages, USB ports in seats and the longest bar in the UK.
