Tottenham Hotspur should prioritise Leicester winger over Milan ace.

AC Milan's midfielder Suso from Spain celebrates after scoring during the Italian Serie A football match Inter Milan Vs AC Milan on October 15, 2017 at the 'San Siro Stadium' in Milan.

Calciomercato reported this week Tottenham Hotspur continue to track AC Milan winger Suso despite a £44 million release clause in his contract.

Suso combined for more goals and assists than any Milan player last season, but he would still be a gamble for Tottenham at such a big fee.

For the same money or even cheaper, Spurs could sign a proven Premier League player, 2016 title winner Riyad Mahrez.

The Sun reported earlier this month that Tottenham remain keen to sign Mahrez, and Leicester could sell at £30 million.

For this cheaper price, it’s almost a no-brainer for Spurs to sign the Algerian.

Mahrez was the 2016 footballer of the year, leading Leicester to the title with 17 goals in 37 games.

The attacking midfielder would be even more dangerous in Tottenham’s attack, and he could be fuelled by frustration after Algeria’s surprise failure to qualify for the World Cup.

This could make him even more focused on his new challenge, and Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino may be the right manager to get the best out him.

Suso is a talented option too, but he is unproven in the Premier League, and it makes more sense for Tottenham to invest in a player who already has a title winner’s medal who can help them get over the line and lift the trophy themselves.
