The magic of the FA Cup is well and truly alive, and this season, we’ve even had some players emerge as potential stars.

Djed Spence is the most notable player to have burst onto the scene in the FA Cup this season. His starring performances for Nottingham Forest against both Arsenal and Leicester have seen him catch the attention of teams such as Bayern Munich, Tottenham and even Arsenal themselves.

However, while Spence has been fantastic in this cup run, we can’t help but think there’s another right-back who deserves this level of attention – Isaiah Jones.

The Middlesbrough man has now put in elite performances against both Tottenham and Manchester United, and he’s also been brilliant in the Championship.

Just look at his stats against Spurs this week. He made four tackles, blocked two shots, completed three dribbles and played one key pass, it was an absolutely incredible showing.

There are obvious comparisons to make between Jones and Spence. They’re both young English right-backs who have starred in the FA Cup, and they’re also both owned by Middlesbrough.

The fact that Boro chose Jones over Spence at the beginning of the season should tell you all you need to know about these two, and while Spence has turned up on the big occasion in the FA Cup this season, Jones has been the more consistent performer.

Jones has four times as many assists as Spence, while he’s also making more tackles and more key passes per game than his Nottingham Forest counterpart this term. Simply put, Jones is outshining Spence.

Arsenal, Spurs and Bayern may be focused on Spence, but they should have an eye on Jones if they want to poach any Championship right-back.
