Tottenham Hotspur could find themselves in a precarious situation if their Sporting Director Fabio Paratici is banned from football after he was indicted in the current Juventus scandal.
According to Alasdair Gold, the club is reportedly preparing for this possibility, and if the ban is implemented, they will need to find a suitable replacement.
One name that immediately comes to mind is Michael Edwards, the former Liverpool Sporting Director who played a pivotal role in the Reds’ recent success.
Edwards left Liverpool at the end of last season, but he is still regarded as one of the best Sporting Directors in the game. During his tenure, he helped Liverpool win the Premier League and the Champions League. Edwards’ shrewd signings such as Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Mohamed Salah were all key to Liverpool’s success.

Edwards’ experience in the Premier League and his proven track record of success make him an ideal candidate for the Tottenham job.
He also has a history with the club, having worked there as an analyst before making the step to Liverpool. He already has a good understanding of the club’s culture and values, which would make his transition into the role smoother, while he should also have a professional relationship with Daniel Levy.
If Edwards were to take over as Tottenham’s Sporting Director, he would have a lot of work to do. The club has struggled in recent years, and there are a lot of areas that need improvement. The squad needs strengthening, particularly in defence, and there are also questions about the future of Harry Kane that would need addressing.
One of Edwards’ key strengths is his ability to identify talent and sign players that fit a specific profile. He has a knack for finding players who are undervalued by other clubs and turning them into stars. This is something that Tottenham could benefit from, particularly if they need to redress their squad on a limited budget compared to their rivals.
Edwards is known as one of the best in the business for a reason, and after almost a year away from the game, perhaps he’ll be ready to jump back into the Premier League with Tottenham if Paratici is, in fact sanctioned.
Tottenham have been linked with a sensational return for Mauricio Pochettino as their manager, but perhaps the return Spurs fans should be clamouring for is the return of Edwards.
