Glasgow Rangers should consider Garry Monk for the Ibrox job if he becomes available.

The highly competent job done by caretaker boss Graeme Murty so far has demonstrated to Rangers that they do not need to rush into appointing a permanent manager at Ibrox.
Having waited six weeks since sacking Pedro Caixinha and risen from fourth to second in the table, the Gers are clearly willing to take their time in order to get their man.
Sights are currently set on bringing Derek McInnes to Ibrox, but Rangers should also be tracking Garry Monk’s situation.
Monk took over at Middlesbrough in the summer, and so far it has not worked out, but there are reasons why.

Monk has had the biggest budget in the Championship to spend and his team has not gelled straight away, and pressure is mounting.
The best spell of his management career arguably came at Leeds United, where he did not have a big budget available.
At Rangers he would not have a big pot of money to spend either, and can focus on coaching and improving his current set of players.

Monk was tipped as a replacement for Mark Warburton in February while at Leeds, although played down the rumours, as reported by the Glasgow Evening Times.
He is a young coach, highly rated, who has worked in the Premier League and should not be discounted just because of one poor stint.
His current attention is focused on Middlesbrough, but with the Boro Gazette claiming he is ‘running out of lives’ at the club, pressure is building.
If Monk was sacked, a move to a club outside of England could be attractive, and Rangers should hedge their bets, wait and see how his situation plays out between now and the end of the year.
