A lot can be said about Arsenal’s transfer business as of late.
It clearly seems as though something hasn’t gone right when it comes to dealings in the transfer market at the club, after all, they’re being touted as relegation candidates after 14 games this season.
Of course, one big talking point has been the decision to sell Emi Martinez. Ian Wright has recently spoken about how big of a mistake he thinks that was, and to be fair, he’s spot on.
Martinez has cemented himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the league, but in Arsenal’s defence, they were offered a lot of money for a player who looked like he could be something of a flash in the pan, finally hitting form after a decade of benchwarming at the Emirates.
Unfortunately, it seems as though letting Martinez go wasn’t their biggest transfer blunder of the summer.
Indeed, letting Henrikh Mkhitaryan join Roma on a free transfer is looking more and more like a mistake with each passing week.
The Armenian is seriously ripping it up in Serie A, netting seven goals in 14 games, while also proving six assists.
Goals and creativity are something Arsenal have found hard to come by this season, and it seems as though Mkhitaryan would certainly have provided that.

Selling Martinez was understandable because of the £20 million fee attached, but letting Mkhitaryan walk away for absolutely nothing is a baffling decision.
Looking back, you have to say that the Armenian wasn’t given a fair shake at the Emirates, he scored eight league goals in 39 games, which looks like a respectable nowadays, considering the Gunners’ recent struggles.
Shipping him out in the summer now looks a little short-sighted considering that Arsenal didn’t have anyone immediately better than him to improve that area of the pitch.
