West Ham United have been linked with Sporting’s William Carvalho.
Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho has told Record that there is no chance that midfielder William Carvalho will be leaving the club this month.
Carvalho, 25, has come up through the ranks with Sporting having joined the club way back in 2005, becoming the key first-team player he is today.
The Angolan-born midfielder has now racked up more than 170 appearances for Sporting, whilst he has also earned 40 caps for the Portuguese national team.
A midfield powerhouse with an impressive passing range and positional responsibility, Carvalho has unsurprisingly attracted major interest from other teams over recent years.
As reported by Sky Sports, West Ham United attempted to sign Carvalho over the summer before relations between the two clubs completely broke down, and have since been repaired.
The Sun have since reported that West Ham are lining up a new move to sign Carvalho this month, given that manager David Moyes is a fan having tried to sign him for Manchester United in 2014.
Carvalho would be a huge addition to the West Ham midfield, but they have been warned off a January bid by Sporting’s famously difficult president, Bruno de Carvalho.
De Carvalho has told Record that anybody attempting to sign Carvalho can ‘forget it’ because he is not for sale this month, though suggested the day may come where Carvalho does leave.
“Forget [it]. He is not transferable in January,” said De Carvalho. “If one day he leaves, wherever it is, we must ensure that the footballing aspect of the decision is not called into question,” he added.
