Leeds have been linked to Bristol City defenders, but Jamie Paterson is the player who would really add to their squad.
Leeds United’s summer interest in Joe Bryan and Aden Flint has been brought back into focus this week as the Whites prepare for their visit to Bristol City.
Given that their decision to sell Luke Ayling to Leeds in 2016 appears to be a clear mistake, its unsurprising they take that stance.
But Bryan or Flint are not the Bristol City players who would give Leeds the biggest boost, instead that is winger Jamie Paterson.
Former Nottingham Forest winger Paterson is enjoying a terrific season so far at Ashton Gate.
Already he has five assists and two goals, with three goals created in his last three games.
Paterson’s wing play is superior to the player Leeds bought this summer, Hadi Sacko, who can’t get into the team and is yet to add an end product to his game.
Paterson is unbeaten against Leeds in four career games, three of which have been wins.
The 25-year-old is finding his best form after his career went off track at Forest amid all of their off field woes and managerial changes.
He has created more chances (33) than any player in the Championship this season and will put Leeds to the test this weekend.
Signing him may be beyond the Whites’ means right now, but he would be a more impressive additon than either Bryan or Flint.
