Leeds United have been the surprise package in the Premier League this season, and as you can imagine, this has led to a number of individual players earning all sorts of plaudits.

The player who has undoubtedly made the most headlines is Patrick Bamford. The striker is well in the race for the Golden Boot, and all of a sudden there is talk of him being called up for England.

Gareth Southgate has spoken about Bamford in the past, and there have been plenty of outlets backing the idea of Leeds’ first-choice striker getting a Three Lions debut.

However, we believe there’s another Leeds player more deserving of an international nod.

Indeed, we’re talking about Jack Harrison.

Now, this isn’t to say that Bamford doesn’t deserve to be in the England reckoning. After all, he’s one of the top scorers in the Premier League this season, but as Bamford himself admits, there are a number of players vying for that position.

Harry Kane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins have all hit double-figures this term, while Danny Ings banged in 21 goals last season.

Bamford has a lot of competition in his spot, while England don’t really have many quality attack-minded left-footers in wide areas.

Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford can operate in that role, but they’re not suited to the position quite like Harrison is due to their footedness.

Six goals and four assists on the left side for Leeds makes Harrison one of the most potent attacking forces in the division, and the best part is he’s not even an attacker.

Yes, he plays on the wing, but he’s not a part of a front three like Sterling or Rashford, he motors up and down the pitch providing a massive amount of defensive cover as well.

If Gareth Southgate wants an alternative option down the left, he should look no further than Harrison.
