Everton should have appointed Claude Puel when they had the chance.

Everton appointed Sam Allardyce this week after spending more than a month without a manager.
During this time caretaker boss David Unsworth failed to get the players to gel, and looked lost in charge, until his final game this week.
The Toffees could have spared themselves the strife had they gone for an available Claude Puel on October 25.

Koeman was fired two days earlier, and the Toffees were beaten to Puel by Leicester City, who had moved on from Craig a week earlier.
Puel was not the most inspirational name, but he has Premier League experience with Southampton, and has settled in at Leicester quickly.

Puel’s first game saw him quickly organise Leicester’s previously suspect defence, and beat Everton in his first game in charge.
This week he led Leicester to a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power, a major scalp for his side.
Everton’s problem was that their ambition was too high, aiming for Diego Simeone, and ending up chasing Sam Allardyce.
A swift move for Puel, even on a short term basis, could have saved them a lot of bother and uncertainty.
