Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to reveal their pessimism over Eddie Howe’s chances of replacing Neil Lennon, after last night’s events.

On Monday evening, Newcastle succumbed to their fourth successive defeat under Steve Bruce after losing 3-0 to Arsenal.

It was the Magpies’ seventh defeat in nine games, with things looking very bleak under the ex-Sunderland boss right now.

Why does this concern Celtic?

Well, some Bhoys supporters on Twitter think that Howe may end at taking the reins at St James’ Park if Bruce continues in this manner.

Of course, if that happens, Peter Lawwell would no longer be able to appoint him as Lennon’s replacement.

Ex-Celtic striker Mark Burchill – who works at Howe’s former side Bournemouth as a scout – recently said that the ex-Burnley boss would be enticed by managing at Celtic Park.

He is certainly an option for the role if Lennon goes, in our view.

Howe has fantastic experience in the game, and has been linked to vacancies at Arsenal and also the England national team in the past.

However, Celtic supporters are now full of pessimism as Bruce continues to oversee a terrible, terrible run of form on Tyneside.

Let’s see what they’ve been saying about Howe on Twitter following Newcastle’s defeat last night…
