Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Jorrit Hendrix, according to Teamtalk.
Along with winger Steven Bergwijn, he is a player who Spurs are keeping a close eye on.
Frenkie De Jong was claimed to be on Tottenham’s radar but he looks like being too expensive for them, and competition is high.
Ajax are determined not to sell, although Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf report Real Madrid are planning a £70 million move.
PSV midfielder Hendrix is a viable alternative, and a far cheaper one for Tottenham to consider.
Hendrix is already a Dutch international and at 23 is a potential replacement for Mousa Dembele.
The midfielder’s contract expires in 2020, putting buyers in the driving seat next summer if PSV cannot secure an extension until then.
He has already racked up 100 appearances for PSV since coming through their academy.
Tottenham will get a chance to take a close look at him in upcoming games when the two teams duel in the Champions League.
Hendrix looks like a far more logical signing for Spurs than De Jong and this is going to be one to keep an eye on.
